Maryland Marriage

Maryland made history this spring when the state legislature passed a bill making it possible for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples to marry. Should this bill become law, it will be the 7th state plus DC that has ended the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage.

Unfortunately, anti-gay forces in Maryland collected enough signatures to put the law up to a public vote making marriage equality still out of reach for same-sex couples in “the Free State.” Opponents of equality are raising money, blanketing the airwaves with lies about LGBT people, and organizing in conservative churches to stop our progress. We need fair-minded Americans to step up and support the campaign to convince voters to approve the historic law at the ballot box on November 6th.

HRC has set up a special fund to direct 100 percent of your contribution today to defend the marriage equality law at the ballot this November in Maryland. Your contribution will support the coalition's efforts and count toward your HRC membership.
